Jim Beam Rye Pre-Prohibition Style Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey 700ml

At 40% it has enough weight to drink neat or over one large piece of ice, which is not true of everything in the range. It does not need water, though a few drops will open the caramel if you want it sweeter.

The published notes are specific: bespoke of rye spiciness, with rich oaky smokiness on the nose, spicy yet sweet, caramelized brown-notes to taste, and a finish of warm spice, smooth finish

With cola over plenty of ice it does what most people buy Jim Beam to do. In an old fashioned or a sour it works, and the range's better options for both are on the Jim Beam Rye page.

A 700ml bottle at 40% holds about 22.1 standard drinks. At $60.75 that is roughly $2.75 per standard drink, or $86.79 per litre of whiskey.

The matched shelf price at the major chains when we set ours was $68.99. Ours is $60.75.

Current production and locally distributed, so this is a line we restock rather than a one-off. Held in our Sydney warehouse and dispatched the same business day on orders placed before 3pm AEST.

Australian allocation of some Jim Beam lines is thinner than people expect, and a bottle vanishing from a local bottle shop usually means that retailer stopped ranging it rather than that it was discontinued. We wrote about what actually happens to Jim Beam bottles in Australia if you have been hunting for something.

The rest of the range is on the Jim Beam Rye page.

This bottle sits in the Jim Beam Rye part of the range, and in the 700ml format alongside everything else on the Jim Beam 700ml page. Both pages carry the full context: what else is in the range, how the bottlings differ, and which one suits what you are actually doing with it.

The whole catalogue is on the shop page, which lists all 71 products with filters for size, style and price.

Wrapped individually and braced so nothing can move inside the carton. Nothing on the outside identifies the contents.
